This is a guide to over coming those driving test nerves, if you
want
further help just ask, good luck throughout your driving career!
- Don't think of it as a test, think of
it as a driving assessment
- What wobbles and lies at the bottom of
the ocean,
- Answer, a nervous wreck.
this is the first rung of the ladder in your driving carrier
the examiner is assessing that you would be reasonably safe to
drive and build on what you have got. as you drive you will learn
something new every day.
- DON'T RUSH TO BOOK YOUR TEST, get as
much practice as you can, and only apply for your test when your
driver trainer says you are ready, you need to feel confident as
well.
- DON'T PANIC when you wake up on your
driving assessment day, and you are a bit nervous, this is quite
normal and it will help you concentrate, try not to panic as you
may make things worse!
- BOOK A TEST TIME TO SUITE YOU,
if you are a morning person, book a test between, 0920 to 1200,
if you are an afternoon person book your test between, 1230 to
1527, in the summer months some test centres supply evening
tests, the best way to book your test is ONLINE.
- A SECRET don't tell anyone when your
test is, the only ones that should know is them that need to
know.
- DON'T LISTEN TO 'HORROR STORIES'
you will here many of them, mostly they are a load of rubbish,
just try to concentrate and drive the way you have been driving
with your driver trainer, think positive ''YOU CAN DO IT'' or
your driver trainer would not have you there.
- WHICH TEST CENTRE normally the one
nearest to you, and in the area were you do your training, being
familiar with area will help to keep you calm.
- DRIVING ASSESSMENTS, your driver
trainer should do driving assessments before your BIG day and
use marking sheets on every lesson.
- PRACTICE IN YOUR ''HEAD'' professors
have proven that you can improve your ability to perform
coordinated tasks by imagining doing them.
- EXAMINERS NEED NOT BE FRIGHTENING
FIGURES that people make them out to be... they are only human
(well most of them) while waiting in the waiting room play a
little mental mind game with your self see your examiner in a
bizarre or comical situation wearing ''rabbits ears'' this will
help you to see examiners are human ''rather than civil servants
from hell, your assessment is one of seven on the examiners work
sheet for that day, don't try to please him or her, drive as you
would with your driver trainer, it is on that driving that you
have been assessed to be ready for the D S A assessment, do try
to pick up on any prompts the examiner may give you, this may be
verbally, or by body language such as keep looking at the Speedo
or looking over there shoulder.
- YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PERFECT if you
make a mistake don't worry it may not be enough to fail you, we
are assessing the overall drive ''remember nobody is perfect''
and under pressure ''the best of us can make a mistake'' the
main element is a brisk safe drive if you can drive round
unnoticed then you are on a winner, ( get drunk tonight BUT
DON'T DRIVE)!...
- DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE SILENCE IN THE
CAR some examiners will talk more than others, they are trying
to let you concentrate and don't want to distract you as they
want you to pass, if they can see you want to talk most will
talk, but there is always one in a bunch.
- ALL AT GEMINI DRIVING WISH YOU
ALL THE BEST THROUGH OUT YOUR DRIVING CAREER.
